According to the website owner of http://www.marketinghwy.com there has been a serious reduction in the effectiveness of safelist campaigns. As a safelist owner I have to concur that safelist advertising has lost some of its effectiveness due to many safelist users’ main focus — to send their Ad emails, however not reading respective members’ emails.
I believe many in the safelist industry will agree that the safelist user is not solely responsible for the decline — software developers are ultimately responsible for this problem because they have written scripts that on one hand appeared to be great, but on the other hand has proven to be detrimental. There’s literally millions of advertising email routed through safelists daily, however most of that email might as well be in a blackhole because no one is reading them. The purpose of Safelist advertising is to allow safelist users a vehicle to advertise all types of information, products and services to fellow safelist members who have agreed to receive their email and who will ultimately either purchase the product or service being advertised.
Safelists email basically prevents safelist users from being accused of SPAM because while a safelist user may not personally know their fellow safelist user — users of the safelist have all agreed to receive advertising or information email from fellow safelist users. I believe the safelist industry can remain a viable marketing tool and I believe the way to maintain the viability of safelist advertising is to have “topic specific” safelists. Now, the majority of the safelists on the Net today allow for all types of advertisments, however I believe by having a topic specific safelist will for one, immediately reduce the number of emails safelists members have no interest in. Therefore joining a safelist will be driven by a topic of interest, for example “Games”. Members not interested in games will not join a list that is exclusively for the topic of games. Many safelists users join lists soley because of the number of members they can send their Ads to. Without a doubt, joining Safelists with a large membership is appealing because member’s Ad will get great visibility. In any business the name of the game is numbers. The believe that the more members you can send your Ad campaigns to the greater your chances of making a sale, increasing your downline,
So, I’m starting a new trend. If you are in the Golf, Diet, Organic, Travel or Debt business, The Golfer’s Gateway, The Dieter’s Club Safelist, Your Organic Source Safelist, The Everything Travel Safelist or Dead Beats Are Us Safelist welcomes you to advertise your product or service. Free memberships are still available for a limited time.
Topic specific safelists offers members a more direct audience and by default you will be advertising to a targeted audience. The intent for having a specific topic safelist is to allow members who are seeking specific information find it easily without having to scroll through tons of messages they have no interest in.
I believe traditional safelist advertising has paved the way for the topic specific safelist to evolve. Becoming a member of my topic specific safelists will allow members to advertise to an audience who is actually seeking the topic specific information, products or services advertised on the list.
If you own a Safelist I welcome you to post your URL in the comments section below. Please provide the name of your list and whether free membership is available.
